Betrayal is an empty word.
Filled in with ash.
Set on fire from inside.
Unable to burn.

Kept in memory.
To ponder another day.
To pose in public.
A healthy glow.

But the unresolved are immortal.
They burst open at a moment’s notice.
They speak in derivatives.
An inadvertent strike.

And then you know.
All things come to fruition.
The settlement is exponential.
It could have been handled better.
